Carry On, My Wayward Son (To Locals)

Well, well, well… here I am returning to this blog after 6.5 years. What on Earth happened?! Let me give you the abbreviated version.

  • Started a doctoral program in clinical psychology in 2017 shortly after my last post

  • Pandemic in 2020

  • Got married in 2022

  • Finished my doctoral program in 2023

  • Returned to working in mental health AND started a family

So clearly, not too much has happened! I currently have some downtime in my schedule and wanted to inform you all about some things that I am resurrecting and some things I am starting from scratch.

Resurrection

  1. I took breaks here and there from my guided meditations podcast. However, it was mostly steady over the course of the past 6.5 years. Take a look at some of my recent work here.

  2. In 2019, I finished the first draft of my next book. However, I haven’t tinkered with it much since then. I’m making a commitment to having the draft edited within the next few months. My newborn may throw this schedule off, but I’m going to do my best to stick with it. In the meantime, check out my first book here.

Creation

  1. I started a Locals community. For those that are unfamiliar, it is similar to Patreon in that people subscribe to get exclusive access to work that I do. I have been expanding the offerings over the past few weeks and just started my mindfulness-based stress reduction class that you can partake in. Additionally, you get premium articles, podcasts, and (eventually) seminars related to mental health or anything else you’d like to hear me sound off about. Go check it out and see if it is for you.

  2. Twitter went through quite a change over the last year or so, huh? While I had one previously, I decided to start posting more regularly on the newly rebranded Twitter, X. Please follow me there for any up-to-date information on projects I’m doing.

So that’s the long and short (mostly short) of it. I’ll occasionally be posting here, but most if not all of what I post will be coming from my Locals. If you want the latest, please go subscribe to me there. It’s $10 per month, which I believe is a very affordable price for the value you get. And if you aren’t able to subscribe right now, please share my work where you can. That always helps me out, too.

Thanks again to all who are reading this and who have supported me over the years. Looking forward to providing even more for you in the near future.

Cheers,

Dr. Gregory T. Obert
